Mary Joanne Mesecher
Mrs. Mary Joanne Mesecher, 72, of Knoxville, Illinois passed away Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 12:21 P.M. at the Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville.
She was born February 17, 1937 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the daughter of Johnny and Doris Ferguson Carnes. On September 24, 1954 she married Raymond Mesecher Sr. in LaHarpe. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1989.
She worked as a cook at Western Illinois University and at the Roseville Elementary School. She lived in Roseville for many years and had been a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home since 2002.
Surviving are two daughters, Sara (Randy) Gooding of Roseville and Tammie Gipe of Carthage, IL, two sons, Johnny (Amy) Mesecher of Monmouth and Raymond (Ruby) Mesecher Jr. of Griggsville, IL, ten grandchildren, Lisa (Gooding) McIntyre, Michael Gooding, and Ben Thompson all of Roseville, Nicholas Gipe of Raritan, Johnny Mesecher Jr., Kaitlyn Mesecher, and Andrew Mesecher all of Monmouth, Jehrid Churchill of Galesburg, Allison Mesecher of Monmouth, and Raymond Mesecher III of Griggsville, three step grandchildren Greg Fentress, Brandon Fulmer, and Marissa Fulmer all of Griggsville, one great grandson Anthony Thompson of Bloomingtoon, two step great granddaughters Rachael and Letti Fentress, one brother Laverne Mitchell of Carthage, and one sister Beverly Myers of West Burlington, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, three brothers and her parents.
Services will be held Friday, January 29, 2010 at 10:30 AM at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established.
