Carl Morris Johnson

C. Morris Johnson, age 69 of rural Stronghurst, Illinois died at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday January 20, 2010 in the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. He was born May 20, 1940 in King City, Missouri, the son of Carl and Kathryn Jones Johnson. On June 10, 1967, he married Carol E. Duncan in Stronghurst.

Morris was a graduate of King City High School and received his bachelor’s degree in agricultural science from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He farmed all of his adult life near Stronghurst. He was a member and former trustee of the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, three daughters - Kimberly Johnson of Streator, IL., Gretchan (Terry) Riser of Forsyth, IL., Melissa Johnson of Rockford, IL., and two grandchildren - Alexis and Aiden Riser. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother - Lorene Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday January 25, 2010 in the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church with Pam Moore officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Media, IL. Friends may call Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. A memorial fund has been established for the Stronghurst Presbyterian Church. Send a condolence here.
