Everett James Johnson

Everett James Johnson, age 88 of Carman, Illinois died at 7:01 a.m. Friday January 15, 2010 in the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. He was born April 2, 1921 in Carman, the son of James H. And Catherine E. Finch Johnson. On April 8, 1942, he married Louise I. Windom in Oquawka, Illinois. She preceded him in death on June 7, 2000.
Mr. Johnson was a 1939 graduate of Stronghurst High School. He farmed all of his life in the Carman area. He had served on the Carman School Board and later on the Stronghurst School Board for several years. He was a Carman Township Trustee and had served on the board of the Carman Cemetery Association. He was a member of the Henderson County Farm Bureau, Henderson County Olde Tymers, and the Carman United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters - Sharen (Darrell) Burrell, and Lisa Schaley, two sons - Loren (Bonnie) Johnson and Shelden (Gena) Johnson, all of Carman, a special friend- Ruby Steck of Carman, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one sister - Ilene (Robert) Thornburg of Raleigh, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday January 18, 2010 in the Carman United Methodist Church with Rev. Anita Munden officiating. Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. A memorial fund has been established for the Carman United Methodist Church. Send a condolence here.
