Irene Blanche Olson

 

Irene B. Olson, age 88 of Stronghurst, IL., died at 5:00 p.m. Sunday December 27, 2009 in the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center in Stronghurst. She was born May 31, 1921 near Raritan, Illinois, the daughter of Ed and Ruth Link Waddill. She married Clarence Fields. They later divorced. In 1956, she married Benjamin Olson. He preceded her in death in August of 1979.

Mrs. Olson was a homemaker most of her life. Earlier, she had worked as a hairdresser and for the Sylvania Corporation in Burlington, Iowa. She was also a volunteer for many years at the LaMoine Christian Nursing in Roseville, Illinois, and was a member of the Stronghurst Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons - Larry (Janice) Fields of Stronghurst, Rick(Debbie) Olson of Allen, TX., four grandchildren- Debbie, Dee Ann, and Jerri Lynn Fields, Dana Lafary, and four great grandchildren- Paige and Ethan Lafary, and Logan and Hunter Fields. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin and one brother - Wayne Waddill.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday December 30, 2009 in the Stronghurst Christian Church with Pastor Ryan Loucks officiating. Burial will be in the Biggsville Cemetery, Biggsville, Illinois. No Visitation is planned. A memorial fund has been established for the Stronghurst Christian Church. Send a condolence here.
